Q: How is the TEMPUR Mattress different?
A: The one thing that all conventional mattresses have in common is that they force the user to conform to them. With TEMPUR, the mattress actually conforms to the body.

Q: But why is this better?
A: By conforming to your body, the TEMPUR Mattress eliminates virtually all pressure points and spreads body weight evenly.

What about the practical aspects....

Q: Do I need to turn the TEMPUR Mattress?
A: No, in fact the TEMPUR Mattress should never be turned.

Q: What maintenance does the TEMPUR Mattress need?
A: The TEMPUR Mattress needs no maintenance. Should you wish to wash the cover it can be easily removed and machine washed in accordance with the washing instructions.

*Please note the TEMPUR Deluxe mattress cover cannot be removed or washed.

Q: Can I use an electric blanket with my TEMPUR Mattress?
A:We do not recommend using electric blankets with the TEMPUR Mattress. The exposure to direct heat over extended periods of time can cause damage to the TEMPUR Material.

Q: Is the TEMPUR Mattress and Pillow hypo-allergenic?
A: All products come with a removable velour cover that is anti-mite and anti-allergy treated.

Q: Can the TEMPUR Pillow be washed?
A: The TEMPUR Material cannot be washed however the velour cover can be removed and machine-washed in accordance with the washing instructions.

Q: So, how does it work? What's it made from?
A: The TEMPUR Pressure Relieving Material is composed of billions of visco-elastic spherical shaped, open cells. The cells respond to your body temperature and weight then shift and re-organise their position to mould to the exact contours of your body. It becomes softer in warmer areas (where your body is making the most contact with the surface) and remains firmer in cooler areas (where less body contact is being made). Due to the removal of pressure, blood is able to flow freely throughout the night, making you toss and turn less - in other words - you get a better night's sleep.

Q: Won't it make me feel hot?
A: The TEMPUR Material will not make you hot as it has an open ventilated cell structure.

Q: You say I'll toss and turn less, can you prove it?
A: Yes. The TEMPUR Mattress and Pillow have been clinically proven to reduce tossing and turning from an average 100 times during the night, to around 17 times. Testing by the Institution for Clinical & Physiological Research at the Lillhagen Hospital in Gothenburg, Sweden of 23,000 patients for a period corresponding to approximately 8 years of clinical and in-home use concluded that the patients suffered from less pain and experienced greatly enhanced and deeper sleep.

FACT: Spring mattresses covered by quilted thickly padded ticking mean you are lying on row after row of coiled sprung metal. This often creates pressure points that can cause painful joints and an aching back The visco-elastic material in the TEMPUR Mattress moulds to your body, adjusting to your body weight, and distributing it evenly, reducing pressure and providing maximum support.

FACT: Whilst individual pocketed springs will offer a higher level of support than innersprings, they are still restricted by the heavily padded ticking. The TEMPUR Material was originally developed in the 1970s at NASA Ames Research Center, California, in order to improve seating comfort and g-force protection in spacecrafts. Due to small-scale production techniques commercial applications were, for many years, limited to medical cushions and mattresses for pressure sore prevention.

Perfected by TEMPUR
In 1991, after extensive material and production development at TEMPUR World's Dan-Foam factory in Denmark, the large-scale 'Space Foam' technology was ready for launch. It was now possible to offer the exceptional pressure relief and comfort of the NASA material for private use as well as in hospitals, clinics and nursing homes around the world.

Certified space technology
In 1996 TEMPUR-Pedic was licensed by the United States Space Foundation to use the official "Certified Technology" seal on TEMPUR product packaging and marketing materials. Only those products and services certified as having originated in U.S. space efforts, or used in space flight can employ this seal.

Guarantee

A general 2-year guarantee is provided on all TEMPUR Products. If you return the guarantee card, this can be extended to:

3 years for pillows
15 years for mattresses (pro rata*)
5 years for bed bases

The guarantee on the 3.5 cm overlay is 3 years.

The guarantee covers physical defects or changes that cause a visible indentation (more than 2 cm) in the TEMPUR Material.

The guarantee does not cover normal changes in hardness or properties that do not affect the pressure-relieving properties.

The guarantee is valid only if the TEMPUR Product is used and handled as described in these instructions for use.

If a claim is made under the guarantee, you must present an invoice or sales receipt as documentation of your purchase along with the returned warranty slip.
